The woman BackgroundIn the closing moments of the May 24th, 2006 episode of the Montel Williams Show (episode title: "Sylvia Browne Explains the Unanswered"), Sylvia Browne took questions from members of the audience. The following is the exchange between Browne and one such audience member. The Reading
Browne apparently thinks that the woman's parents are deceased. However...
Apparently realizing that she made a mistake, Browne quickly changes her answer from "they are around you anyway" to "they will be around you in a year." Some might say that Browne did not think that the parents were deceased, but meant "they are around you anyway" in some symbolic sense. If that were the case, why would she change it to the future tense "they will be around you in a about a year"?
Is this a psychic prediction, or just common sense? People traveling from one country to another always have to get "papers or something" in order to do so.
AnalysisIn that brief "reading," Browne made one incorrect statement ("they are around you"), which she immediately changed into a prediction we can't know the accuracy of ("they will be around you in a year"), followed by one statement which, although accurate, is just common sense ("they're going to have to get papers or something").
